What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state of heightened awareness and focused concentration.  Some call
it trance; some call it an altered state of consciousness.  It is actually like
daydreaming, where your attention is turned inward, allowing you to be more open
to new ideas.

What Hypnosis is NOT

Hypnosis does not allow someone else to have control over your mind.

No one can make you do anything you don't want to do.

You cannot get lost somewhere (in your mind, or anywhere else) during hypnosis.

You will not be unaware of what you're saying or doing.  You will not forget, either, unless you choose to.

What Does Hypnosis Feel like?

During hypnosis you will feel extremely relaxed.  Awareness of your surroundings varies by person and situation.  Some people feel fully aware, some say that sounds fade in and out, and some people feel as if they have gone to sleep.  How you will react is totally unique to you and cannot be predicted ahead of time.

Hypnosis works with the subconscious mind to create results.  Your subconscious is the  part of your mind that stores all of your experiences, dreams, fears, and beliefs.  It believes whatever you feel the strongest about, especially if that is constantly reinforced by you.  It is like a tape recorder, repeating all that stuff you've been telling yourself for years.  Hypnosis creates new thought patterns to bring you the results you are looking for.

Some people think that their work is done once they walk into the hypnotist's office,
but the truth is that you and the hypnotist must work as a team in order to create change. The hypnotist leads and guides, and you are responsible for doing your part by committing fully to the process, imagining the changes that you will experience, allowing yourself  to relax fully, and following through with suggestions.   Hypnosis is not magic, and without your full commitment and participation, nothing will happen.

Testimonials

"It was kind of amazing, but even hurried like we were (and more than a little stressed,
like I was), I left your office completely relaxed.  And even now, thrust back into my
neverending list of tasks that were due yesterday, I feel completely calm.  Don't know
what I'm going to do yet, but I am certain it will be OK."  KF, Chehalis, WA

"I can't begin to tell you what an impact that session had on me.  I had a
realization about 20 minutes later and have been smiling ever since."
C.T., Rochester, WA

"Words can not even express how much I appreciate you taking time to be with my mother before her death.  Just knowing you were there gave me peace of mind."  M.G., San Jose, CA

"It worked!  I'm not smoking, and I tell my friends to take those smelly things outside."  S.J., Centralia, WA

"I'm amazed at how relaxed I felt.  I don't relax easily." J.N., Centralia, WA

"It's already been almost three years since I quit smoking, can you believe it?!."  M.W., Chehalis, WA

"I never knew that relaxation could help with pain and anxiety.  I had a rough week and still didn't experience anxiety or pain."  J.D., Centralia, WA

"I want you to know you are fantastic.  I finally told myself, "This is ridiculous," and threw my cigarettes away.  I'm very happy, and I owe you a lot. Thank you very much."  B.M., Chehalis, WA

"It has been three and a half months since my last cigarette, thanks to you.  I think you're great ... what you do is great and I so appreciate you."  KP, Morton, WA

About Me

As a consulting hypnotist and a comfort therapist, I am passionate about the energetic aspects of hypnosis and therapeutic touch.  Some of the changes I've seen have been truly amazing and awe-inspiring.  For me, there is nothing better than to see the pleasure on the faces of clients who have reached their goals.

I received my initial hypnosis training from the Threshold University of Body/Mind Science, in Seattle, Washington, in 1997.  I frequently participate
in courses and trainings to expand my hypnosis skills and knowledge.

My primary therapeutic touch teacher, Betty Green, was a well-known nurse in the Seattle area for many years.  My current mentor, also a nurse, is Janet Goldenbogen-Self.  She lives and works in Port Townsend, WA.
